Utah House District 37

Located on the West Side of Salt Lake County, Utah House District 37 includes portions of three communities: Kearns, Taylorsville, and West Jordan. These communities are inseparably connected due to shared history and geography. The district is home to 44,000 of the best people in the state and is the most compact house district in Utah.

KEARNS

Named after former U.S. Senator from Utah, Thomas Kearns, the Kearns community was founded in 1942 with the establishment of Camp Kearns, a former U.S. Army Airbase. Kearns formally became an incorporated city in May 2024 after becoming a metro township in 2015. The community is home to the Utah Olympic Oval and the Kearns Oquirrh Park Fitness Center. The population of Kearns is estimated at over 36,500 people, and it is one of the most diverse cities in Utah. All of Kearns that is east of 5600 W is included in House District 37.

Taylorsville City Hall

TAYLORSVILLE

Named after John Taylor, Taylorsville was first settled in 1848.  In 1995, voters in the unincorporated communities of Bennion and Taylorsville voted to incorporate and unite as a single city. It is known as Utah's "Centennial City" since it was incorporated 100 years after Utah became a state. Since its founding, Taylorsville's population has grown to over 60,000. The city is home to the main campus of Salt Lake Community College, the Taylorsville Utah Temple, and many local businesses. All areas west of Bangerter Highway in Taylorsville are included in House District 37.

WEST JORDAN

West Jordan was first settled just a year after pioneers entered the Salt Lake Valley in 1847 and was incorporated as a city in 1941. The community has grown to become the third largest city in Utah, now with a population of over 116,000 spread out between the Jordan River to the east and the Oquirrh Mountains to the west. The city is home to Jordan Landing, South Valley Regional Airport, Gardner Village, and Salt Lake Community College's Jordan Campus. The area north of 6600 S between Bangerter Highway and 5600 W in West Jordan is included in House District 37.
