About Casey Saxton
Candidate for State House
My name is Casey Saxton. I'm running for the Utah House of Representatives in District 37 to advocate for the interests of the citizens of Kearns, Taylorsville and West Jordan. I'm a common sense conservative committed to being a strong voice for the West Side.
Why am I running?
I truly believe that we can deliver more for our community. It's no secret that the West Side sometimes gets the short end of the stick. Our community matters, so I'm running to make sure we have a seat at the decision-making table in the Utah House of Representatives.
HOME & COMMUNITY
I am a resident of Kearns and work in West Jordan. I spend the majority of my time right here on the West Side of Salt Lake County. These days, you'll normally find me somewhere in between the cities of Kearns, Taylorsville, West Jordan, and West Valley City. I've lived on the West Side for the last nine years and was able to buy my first home in Kearns in early 2025 after nearly a decade of saving up a decent down payment. I live in the Hoffman Heights / West Kearns neighborhood. Like many of my neighbors, my home was built in the 1950s on part of the former Camp Kearns.​

My main focus, if elected, will be to advocate for the interests of the communities that I serve.
EDUCATION
I attended college at Utah State University where I studied business. I graduated with Bachelor of Science degrees in Business Administration and Marketing, and I minored in Political Science.
Following graduation in 2015, I worked for the university full-time and completed a Master of Business Administration degree in the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business by taking evening and weekend classes.
CAREER & WORK
My work background is primarily in public affairs and communications. I've worked for the last nearly nine years to help make government more transparent and responsive to the needs of citizens.

I'm currently in my fourth year working as District Director for the U.S. House of Representatives in Utah's 4th Congressional District. In this role, I've helped Congressman Burgess Owens advocate for the interests of Utahns and supported his efforts that have brought in nearly $20 million for infrastructure and public safety projects in the cities of Kearns, Taylorsville, West Jordan and West Valley City.

This role has given me a front row seat to learn about many issues that Utahns face and the needs our community has.
​
Prior to my current job, I worked for Riverton City for five years as Director of Communications. In this role, I led efforts to make city services and information accessible online, and ensured citizens were informed about city issues in a timely manner.

I've also worked as a Marketing Manager for Utah State University Extension and held several part-time roles over the course of my life, including: public relations and marketing assistant, recreation manager, a packing/shipping laborer, and farm hand in my early years working for my dad on his farm.
SERVICE & LEADERSHIP
Service has always been an important part of my life. I've held several volunteer leadership positions, volunteered at community events, and always strive to lift where I stand.

Despite some complaining here and there, I did earn the Eagle Scout rank as a teenager. I served a mission for my church in New Zealand where I lived and served amongst many amazing and diverse people.
​
While a student at Utah State University, I served in several volunteer and leadership positions, including as a Student Body Vice President where I advocated for the interests of students with university and government officials.
I've served as a precinct chair, county delegate, and state delegate. I've volunteered for various causes and community events, including at Kearns Hometown Days this last year.

​It was an honor to be named a Kearns Amazing Volunteer in 2025 by the Kearns Community Council.
BACKGROUND & INTERESTS
My roots in Utah run deep, having many pioneer ancestors who ventured to Utah in the 1800s from far away places in search of religious freedom.
I grew up on a farm just over the border in Idaho where I learned from a young age to pray for rain, the value of hard work, personal responsibility, and that money doesn't grow on trees. I've lived in Utah for 15 years.

My interests include community involvement, personal finance, American history, working in my yard, occasional hiking, the occasional game of Risk or Monopoly, visiting different places in our country, and spending time with my family.​
